The “debatable lands” between England and Scotland were for centuries plagued by battles and cross-border skirmishes. Fortified farmhouses, sturdy towers and ruined abbeys are reminders of the region’s turbulent history, but for the past century or so this has been a peaceful patch of a United Kingdom, and the only evidence you’re crossing a border are the “Welcome” signs.
This is my homeland. It is where I was born and where my early cycling took place. These green and pleasant lands offer so many castles, breath taking panoramas, quiet roads and cycle ways that I oft times yearn to return. The beauty of the Southern Uplands and the Cheviot Hills, combine with the majesty Edinburgh to bring together a cycling journey of memorable proportion. If you are not into huge events and really have no idea who won the last Tour de France, then this ride could be just what you are looking for.
The ride is fully supported, with a mechanic to take care of those little issues. A sag-wagon for those times when you might not be up to par. We offer local bike rentals at reasonable prices and a well-maintained fleet of hybrid and cyclocross bikes. No need for panniers, all luggage is moved forward. The host crew are well seasoned in the cyclo- tourism industry and are a cheery and helpful bunch of lads from Northumberland
Come with me to land of the Brave Heart
